On Friday, September 20, 2013, the Blackville
Home and School committee organized a weekend jam packed with activities
for students of all ages. The event was kicked off with a movie night on
Friday, which had a fantastic turnout. Elementary students had watched the
movie, “Epic,” and forty middle and high school students had come out to watch
the film “Now You See Me.”
The festivities had continued onto
Saturday, when there was a yard sale in the open area from eight to twelve. At
the barbecue, popcorn and cotton candy was sold, and people
were also able to get henna tattoos or have their face painted. In the afternoon, the carnival had started on the soccer field where everyone could participate in an abundance of activities. Of the games, it was evident that the fan favourites had been the jumping castle and the dunk tank.

The “Back to School Bash” was made
possible by the Home and School Committee, as well as a number of dedicated
volunteers. The event was a complete success, and the $1,985.00 raised will gotowards the upcoming purchase of a floor cover for the new gym floor. The Home
and School Association would like to give a big thanks to everyone who came out
to support BHS.
