35 Students Graduate from Blackville School

The 2015 graduates celebrate at the end of the graduation
ceremony on Thursday, June 18. 
Thirty-five grade 12 students crossed the stage on Thursday evening, June 18 to receive their high school diplomas.

The valedictorian was Riley Sherrard and the salutatorian was Graham Manderville. Rev. Paul McGrattan gave the invocation and the benediction was given by John Beach.

Grade 6 and 7 Awards and Students of the Month for June

Grade six students who received Honours in Social Studies
Grade 6 and 7 students at Blackville School were acknowledged for their hard work and dedication to their studies on Monday morning, June 15.

The Masters of Ceremonies were Chloe Curtis and Hannah Jardine. They announced the awards for Honours in each subject, both Good and Perfect Attendance, along with the Outstanding Scholar Awards. 

The Students of the Month for June were also announced: William Schofield 6D, Zac Carrier-Taylor 7M, Robyn Stewart 7W, Julie Jardine 8M and Amber Furlong 8O.

Blackville School Prom 2015

The prom for the Blackville School 2015 graduates and their guests was on Saturday, June 15.

The graduation ceremony is this Thursday evening, June 18.

Grade 5 and 8 Students Celebrate at Banquets

Both grade 5 and 8 students at Blackville School attended separate banquets on June 9 and 11 respectively.

The grade 5 students were celebrating their completion of upper elementary, while the grade 8 students were recognized for their completion of middle school.

At both events, students received awards and recognition and enjoyed a meal with their families.

The grade 5 students viewed slide shows of the students through their earlier school years and a slide show of all the fun activities they took part in this year.

The students performed a dance to the song "Uptown Funk". Awards were given for top students in academic subjects, as well as Peer Helpers, Bucket Fillers and other areas of strength.

Blackville School Students Raise $700 for Local Charity

Blackville School students raised $700.00 through various fundraising initiatives for the Josie Foundation. The fundraising campaign was organized by the High School Student Council.

According to its website, the Josie Foundation "is a non-profit incorporated Foundation whose aim is to establish, receive and maintain a fund for the relief of economic hardship for individuals (families) within the Miramichi area who may be encountering financial difficulty as a result of a life threatening illness."

Recognition Awards Held at Blackville School on June 1

Graham Manderville and Ashlyn Moody received
 the Most Outstanding Academic and Extra-curricular Awards.
Blackville School held their Recognition Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 1. Grade 12 student Graham Manderville and grade 11 student Ashlyn Moody received the Most Outstanding Academic and Extra-curricular Awards.

Manderville also received the Fenton Sturgeon Memorial Award which is awarded to a grade 12 student who has been involved in sports for all four years of high school. Special consideration is given to students who have volunteered their time coaching younger athletes outside school hours.

High School Male Athlete of the Year went to Graham Manderville and High School Female Athlete of the Year went to grade 10 student Kailey Donovan. The Kathy McCormack Award, recognizing athletes who are great school ambassadors, went to grade 12 student Larissa Bryenton.

Middle School Male Athlete of the Year went to Denver Donovan and Middle School Female Athlete of the Year went to Tori Sullivan.
