Students Participate in Walk; Raise Money for Cancer Research
Students were eager to lace up their shoes, get outside, and of course miss some class time, for a great cause.
That cause was the Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 15.
Elementary and middle school students, along with parents and teachers, participated in the walk.
Each student that participated was asked to bring in one dollar. The students raised $200 for cancer research. While elementary students walked one kilometre, middle school students walked three kilometres.
"Terry Fox raised money for cancer research, and he wanted people to be like him and do the same thing," said grade 4 student Kyler Sturgeon. Grade 4 student Ayden Munn agreed, saying, "Terry Fox wanted people to raise money and awareness for cancer research."
Kindergarten students Kamryn Curtis and Kenzie McNeil added that they had fun and were happy they did it and hope the students do it again.
The Blackville community also held a Terry Fox Walk. The walks continue to be well received from both community and school members.
