Middle School Recognition Day 2021

The Middle School Male Athlete of the Year is Roman
Stewart and Female Athlete of the Year is Lily McEvoy 
Students and staff at Blackville School held the annual Middle School Recognition Day on the last day of school, Friday, June 25.

Students were awarded several different prizes and awards, including the Miramichi Salmon Association prizes in stories, printing and art. Other awards included the Positivity Awards, the Hard Hat Awards and Outstanding Scholar Awards. 

Grade 8 student Jordyn Curtis was awarded the Most Improved Student. Middle School Student of the Year went to grade 7 student Lily McEvoy.

This year's recipient of the Ron Pauley Award went to both Jack Curtis and Myles Curtis. This award recognized students who display a good attitude toward school and do their best and are willing to help others. 

Students also received sport awards for soccer, basketball and volleyball. The Middle School Male Athlete of the Year is Roman Stewart and the Middle School Female Athlete of the Year is Lily McEvoy. 

The Family of the Year is Allan and Jennifer Furlong and Educational Assistant Lisa Sturgeon was awarded the Students First Award.

Elementary Recognition Day

Grade 5C students receive their Outstanding
Scholar recognitions
Students and staff at Blackville School held the annual Elementary Recognition Day (K-5) on the last day of school, Friday, June 25.

Students were recognized for attendance as well as art and printing/writing awards. The Outstanding Scholar Awards and the Bronze B Awards were also presented. 

Grade 5D student Allie Hallihan was this year's recipient of the Ron Pauley Award which is given to a student who demonstrates good sportsmanship and is a good ambassador for Blackville Elementary. 

Students also received sport awards for cross country, soccer and basketball.

Blackville School Graduation Ceremony 2021

The 2021 graduates crossed the stage at Blackville School on Thursday evening to receive their high school diplomas.

The valedictorian was Andrea Lynch and the salutatorian was Reese Urquhart. Pastor John Stewart gave the invocation and the benediction.

Blackville School Principal Rodney Buggie addressed the staff, graduates and their guests. Guests were limited this year due to COVID-19 protocols.

Grade 5 Celebrates with Spring Banquet and Geocaching

The grade 5 students at Blackville School attended a year-end spring banquet on June 16. They were celebrating their completion of upper elementary.
The students received awards and recognitions. Awards were given for top students in academic subjects, as well as Peer Helpers, Bucket Fillers and other areas of strength.

They viewed a slide show of themselves through their earlier school years. They had a meal then traveled to the Blackville Park for some geocaching fun to finish off the day.

High School Recognition Ceremony 2021

The Annual Recognition Ceremony for high school students was held on Friday, June 11. The event served to recognize students who go the extra mile in extracurricular and academics through a presentation of many awards.

Caleb Gillespie and Preston Gillespie (grade 12) and Andrea Lynch (grade 12) were awarded the Male and Female Athletes of the Year. Their names will now be commemorated on the wall of Eagles in the gym.

Andrea Lynch (grade 12) and Keaton Walls (grade 12) were awarded the Outstanding Female and Male Academic and Extra Curricular Activities. This is the second time Keaton has received the award as he received it when he was in grade 10.


Reese Urquhart (grade 12) was awarded the Fenton Sturgeon Memorial Award. This is presented to a grade 12 student who has participated in sports through all four years of high school, with special consideration given to those who have volunteered their time to coach young athletes outside of school.

The Middle School recognition ceremony will be held on June 25.

Elementary Classes of the Month for May

Mrs. Waugh's kindergarten class
The elementary classes of the month for May are Mrs. A. Waugh's kindergarten class and Mrs. P. Duffy's grade 5 class.

These classes were recognized for following school policy and being kind and respectful to their other classmates, as well as teachers and other classes.

They also demonstrated very good manners and always displayed a positive attitude.

High School Student of the Week

Grade 9 student Tyson Mackeigan is the High School Student of the Week. Tyson was nominated by Mr. J. Wright.

Mr. Wright said, "Tyson always has a positive attitude and puts his best foot forward in all that he does." 

The other students nominated are Jaiden Betts, Michael Curtis, Macaully Gillespie, Rudy Colford, Arianna D'Alessio, Ashley Wylie and Brayden Duffy.

High School Student of the Week

Grade 12 student McKenzie Jardine is the High Student of the Week. McKenzie was nominated by Mr. Carter.

Mr. Carter said, "McKenzie has a great attitude and works well with other students."

The other students nominated are Denver Hogan, Hudson Underhill, Amber Walls and Caidan Duffy.
